CONROE, TX — The San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) announced today that they are seeking input from private enterprises and individuals regarding innovate approaches to operating Lake Conroe Park. SJRA encourages interested parties to respond to a Request for Information (RFI) for a Concessionaire to assist in the operation of Lake Conroe Park. Instructions on responding to the RFI can be found at: https://www.sjra.net/purchasing/bidopportunities/.

“SJRA is interested in evaluating ideas and innovative approaches to improving the Lake Conroe Park amenities to make it a year-round destination site for all visitors,” said SJRA General Manager Aubrey Spear. “Our board of directors supports enhancing the current site and wants to ensure that Lake Conroe Park provides opportunities for memorable experiences for those who visit the Park. SJRA encourages the private sector to join us in evaluating new ideas on operating the Park and making it an inviting place for visitors.”

The Park, located at 14968 Hwy 105 West on the west shores of Lake Conroe, is a 19-acre site that began in 1990 as a partnership between Montgomery County, San Jacinto River Authority, and Texas Parks and Wildlife for a public park and outdoor recreation facility.

From the early 1990s, Montgomery County was in a long-term lease agreement with SJRA to operate the park until the county closed the park and Montgomery County Commissioner’s Court voted to terminate their lease agreement earlier this year due to rising costs. The Park includes an onsite water well, a sewer lift station, park office, picnic tables, restrooms, swimming area, volleyball court as well as pavilions.

One of the major river authorities in Texas, SJRA's mission is to develop, conserve, plan, and protect the water resources of the San Jacinto River basin. Covering all or part of seven counties, the organization’s jurisdiction includes the entire San Jacinto River watershed, excluding Harris County.
