SPRING, Texas -- Are your ready for some football? It may appear out of season to talk football just as the NCAA basketball tournament is about to ‘tip off,’ but to have football skills developed in time for the fall football season, the training starts now.

Djonkins Sports Football Skills Camp ‘kicks off’ their Football Skills Camp March 29, and will continue to develop the essential skills needed on the gridiron, through the end of July. The camps will take place at the Scrap Yard Sports Complex located at 29607 Robinson Road, east of I-45 north.

Derrick Jonkins of DJonkins Sports Youth Programs, who conceived the program, coordinates it, and is one of the coaches, makes football skills training fun. He promotes it by stating…’Learn the FUNdamentals of football.’ He does this by enlisting football coaches and professional football players. The program is rewarding for both the participants and those teaching the camps.

“My goal is to provide athletes with superior training through knowledgeable and experienced training in the proper motivational environment that is not only conducive to high-end sports training, but one that teaches core values and accountability to athletes."said Jonkins.

Jonkins has been voted one of the most versatile sports trainers in the United States, and has an impressive coaching resume. To date, he has trained over 500 athletes who have gone on to receive full athletic scholarships to college.

“Our mission is to develop athletes of all ages in a safe, positive environment, instilling in them a sense of confidence and helping them achieve success, on and off the field," said Jonkins.
