Veteran of the Week - Forrest Turbeville

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- This week’s Veteran is Forrest Turbeville. 97. who served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947, having enlisted as a 17 year old with his dad signing for him. Mr. Turbeville served as a medic on the Island of Oahu in Hawaii to close out World War II. He was then mustered out. Then he joined the U.S. Coast Guard, serving for 21 years. Forrest served in various positions with the Coast Guard finishing his service in the intelligence department in 1968. Turbeville joined the Houston Police Department in 1969, where he worked in the patrol division, as well as a plain clothes officer with the juvenile division. Forrest also served on Presidential Protection details for Chief Executives that visited Houston, and was featured on several Houston news dailies showing him open the door of the Presidential Limousine. Mr. Turbevill retired from HPD in 1992. Good Luck Forrest, and Congratulations on being ‘Veteran of the Week’.
