MONT BELVIEU, Texas – Conroe High School pitcher Cameron Waddell threw a perfect game on Thursday at the Barbers Hill Tournament. The senior right-hander struck out 10 in the Tigers’ 3-0 win over Channelview.

Waddell needed just 89 pitches (55 strikes) to complete the gem. He did so by getting ahead of most of the 21 batters he faced, throwing first-pitch strikes to 11 of those. Waddell coaxed seven fly ball outs and four ground ball outs as the Tigers played flawless defense behind him.

Conroe scored a run in the second inning and added two more in the fourth. Mitch Henshaw had two of Conroe’s five hits and drove in a pair of runs. Connor Ontivarous collected three hits for the Tigers (4-9).

Conroe continues tournament play on Friday with games against Pearland Dawson (12:30 p.m.) and Clear Springs (3 p.m.) before finishing up on Saturday with host Barbers Hill (4 p.m.).
