MONTGOMERY, TX -- This week’s Veteran is Wesley “Rusty” Smith, who served in the U.S. Navy, in Korea following the war, in 1954-1958. Rusty flew the Neptune P2V-7, which loitered in the area off the Korean coast looking for submarines. And although he never found one, he still had a great time in the Navy. Smith also flew the Grumman S-2F, which is an odd looking aircraft, which was manufactured to be a submarine hunter-killer. Rusty is a loyal member of the Lone Star Honor Flight Veterans Group, and enjoys spending time with his grandkids. Good Luck Wesley, and Congratulations on being ‘Veteran of the Week’.
