Habitat’s Building Hope Gala Raises Over $800,000 and Celebrates 35 Years of Building Homes and Hope in the Community
CONROE, TX -- Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Texas (Habitat MCTX) celebrated its highly anticipated Building Hope Gala on April 6, 2024, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. The event brought together donors, future homeowners, volunteers, and supporters to raise funds for Habitat MCTX's mission to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing. This year the event was even more triumphant, celebrating the organization’s 35th anniversary.
The gala, attended by over 500 guests, was a resounding success, generating more than $800,000. These funds will significantly contribute to Habitat MCTX's home builds, critical home repairs, and initiatives such as Veterans Build and Aging in Place.
The evening commenced with welcoming remarks from Gala Committee co-chairs, Jill Krueger, and Sonya Nicholson, followed by gratitude expressed by Habitat MCTX Board President, Charles Merdian, to sponsors, partners, and honored guests. Three incredible honorees were recognized: Dr. Jim Schulze on behalf of Founding Members of Habitat MCTX, Kathy Uber on behalf of the late Rick Uber, a devoted volunteer for over 25 years, and the Can Do Crew – Women Build Too, a tenured volunteer group that has made a significant impact for Habitat MCTX.
A highlight of the event was the touching story of Buddy and Deborah's family, future homeowners in Habitat MCTX's Cedar Creek neighborhood. Their journey epitomized perseverance and triumph, inspiring all in attendance.
Vicki Johnson, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Texas, expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming generosity witnessed at the gala. She emphasized the transformative impact of the funds raised on addressing the critical housing needs in the community.
Habitat MCTX extends its deepest gratitude to LGI Homes for their support as the Presenting Sponsor of the Building Hope Gala for the seventh consecutive year, as well as to Insperity for providing the VIP Experience prior to the event, and the many other generous sponsors and underwriters. The Building Hope Gala is a wonderful testament to the community's unwavering commitment to creating brighter futures for its neighbors. Donations are still welcomed for those unable to attend the gala but wishing to support Habitat MCTX. Every contribution aids in building and preserving homes and increasing access to affordable housing in Montgomery County, Texas.
The gala ran seamlessly due to the dedication of the incredible staff, Emcee and Auctioneer, Patrick Tully, and Event Consultant, Jen Lowrance owner of JLow Events.
